So You’ve Always Wanted Your Own Paintball Field?

December 11th, 2008 | Category: One Shots, Paintball Fields

redfoxchartIn a recent interview, Vaughn Smith announced to Tango Alpha2 that he was selling Red Fox Games (www.redfoxgames.com) near Greenville, SC. I have played at this field and it is a very cool place to  play paintball.

“I am rapidly approaching 70 and for the last 20 years PB has been my life and I want nothing more than to see the sport continue and grow. I have made so many friends over 20 years and I am now seeing the sons and daughtors of people who played here in the 90’s,” said Vaughn. “There always comes a time when we all will have to give it up and that time is almost here for me. I have resolved that 2009 will be my last year and if a buyer or lessor cannot be found then RFG will just have to close.”

So if you ever wanted your paintball field, now is the time to check it out! Attached are some data about the fields attendance, inventory etc. you may find interesting. Read more

Surprises: Up Close and Personal

September 15th, 2008 | Category: Paintball Fields, Reviews

PaintballKingdom_1763Occasionally you get surprised in paintball. Usually, they are nasty ones like the bush you just stepped around has more bad guys in it than a Quentin Tarrantino movie. Paintball Kingdom in Marshville, NC provided us with plenty of surprises and almost all of them were pleasant and welcomed. When you pull up to the site, the first thing you notice is that it’s someone’s driveway. You overlook the building to the left and focus on the rickety, long (huge) Chicken Coop in the back, thinking “What the hell have I gotten myself into?” Read more

Free Paintball Markers!

August 10th, 2008 | Category: Events, Paintball Fields

Valor vs. Venom BR Sports (formerly Black River Sports) presents G.I. Joe vs. Cobra in a paintball match dubbed “Valor Vs. Venom”  The event will be this Saturday, August 16th. The unique angle to this scenario is that everyone on the winning side will win a FREE US5 paintball marker by PCS! This marker is similar to the A5 and was originally designed by Tippman. But wait! there’s more! Along with the winning army winning a free marker, everyone that pre-registered will receive a FREE set of camos!

In one of the most original marketing ideas to come to paintball in a long time, Allen  “Buddha” Faircloth is producing the game and has arranged with his vendors to provide free markers to go to the winning sides. So if there are 180 players playing for the G.I. Joe side and they win the event, 180 Joe players will each receive a free PCS paintball marker! Read more

NC Tactical Paintball is Closed!

June 10th, 2008 | Category: Paintball Fields

The Clemmons, NC (near Winston-Salem) paintball field is closed permanently. I was updating our field links and went to NC Tactical’s web site and saw the following notice:

“Something fell through with the new ownership and we have no other choice. We would like to say thanks to all that supported the field and thanks for all the fun, See everyone at the next big game. Chad and Willy will no longer have anything to do with running the field, website or have any responsibilities or liabilities for the paintball field. We will leave the forum and website up for now. See you at the next big game.”

Almost all of the links are disconnected so that directions and almost everything else doesn’t work on the site. I tried to call Willy for more information, but he was not in at the time. Besides our condolences to NC Tactical, this is equally sad for scenario players in the Carolinas as this is one more great field we won’t be able to play and enjoy our favorite sport. Good luck to Willy and his crew in whatever they do in the future. Email us at paul@tangoalpha2.com if you have any more information or leave a comment below.

Reviewed: Boss Paintball

June 05th, 2008 | Category: Paintball Fields, Reviews

Shooting the refClyde Hartsell didn’t set out to make one of the best paintball fields in the Charlotte area, he wanted to sell the land to property developers. The way property values have grown, he would have made a fortune. He purchased the 75 acres that now includes the Boss Paintball field (http://bossproshops.com/golddiggers/index.htm) as a quick land investment. That was eight years ago. Lucky for us, it didn’t work out that way. Today, Boss Paintball, formerly known as GoldDiggers (very close to the historical Reed Gold Mine) is one of the best wooded scenario fields in the area.  There may come a time at some point in the far distant future where a land developer will offer Clyde the right number of zeroes for the land, but until then, Carolina paintballers have struck gold again in Locust, NC, about 20 miles of east of Charlotte.

Wolf Creek Paintball: A Review

March 27th, 2008 | Category: Paintball Fields, Reviews

Wolf Creek We played at Children of Men at Wolf Creek  (located 1 mile east of I-73/US Hwy 220, in Star, NC) last year and then again at Clear and Present Danger this year and it’s one of the best fields I have seen.. It’s 80 some acres, heavily wooded, has one of the best forts I’ve ever seen, a house to clear and a village. But it’s the woods that make it. When the leaves are out, the camouflage is killer.
