Team:Tango Alpha2 launches!
TangoAlpha2.com, this news blog, is proud to present its new permanent, scenario paintball Non-Team, “Team:Tango Alpha 2“. A “non-team” because Team:Tango Alpha2 doesn’t bring the some of the same baggage that other teams do, such as ego, reputation or taking themselves so seriously. The team’s primary weapon is NOT paintball markers, but a sense of humor. We may not be to outshoot you, but we can definitely outlaugh you. Our goal is to not to win, or lose, a given a battle, but to have the most fun. Granted, winning is a helluva lot more fun, and we always we give it our best shot, but to paraphrase paintball writer Jason “foolybear” Lineberger, “Six months from now no one will remember who won or lost, but they will remember the craziest or who had the most fun.” This is the premise of Team:Tango Alpha. Have Fun. Our goal is to not only shoot you, but do it while we are laughing WITH you.. or AT you (the choice is yours).
For Team:Tango it’s all about the integrity, working as a team, and most importantly, having fun. This isn’t about attitude or who’s best, it’s about who has the most fun. The team is not above ribbing other teams, stirring up a “feud” (in fun) or creating artificial rivalries to make it a little more interesting, but at the end of the day, it’s just a bunch of people playing army and IT’S A GAME!
The lack of ego allows us the freedom to enjoy the game a bit more without taking ourselves or the game as serious as others might. We want to be the guys “who laugh the most, make the best jokes and who make the game the most fun” while maintaining the integrity of the team, ourselves and most of all, the sport of paintball.
Make History or Be History
The team began with some temporary team-ups at Clear and Present Danger at Wolf Creek in January and an 18 member assault at Viet Nam: The Siege of Khe Sahn at Command Decisions in April as well as some practices in early May. Many of the same players have elected to become part of the permanent team.
The Benefits of Being Smartasses
To afford the cost of running and marketing the team, Team:Tango collects monthly dues of $10 per month. For the annual membership, members receive:
- Team uniform - we decided were going with a multicam ACU type uniform, to look a little more military and to give the team a unified feel. We will supply you with this uniform. You don’t have to wear it, but you get one as part of the team. Our alternate pattern is Omnipat, but you are on your own there to buy it. I think you will really like these uniforms.
- Team patch - team patch with a logo with Velcro on the back
- Team armband - for when you don’t want to wear the uniform or want to wear a Ghilly suit or something for reserve players to use or for guest members
- Embroidered name and team tapes - we will supply your callsign on a Velcro nameplate for the front left pocket of your uniform (about 1″ x 4″ long) as well as a similar one with the team name for your right pocket
- Team website: http://www.TeamTangoAlpha.com/ that features…
- team roster based on the temporary team and we will refine as we finalize our membership.
- an online membership application, that if you’re interested in joining we need you to fill out and submit. When you fill out the application be sure and put in the clothing sizing.
- online store where you can pay your annual membership dues as well as pre-register for team events
- team roster based on the temporary team and we will refine as we finalize our membership.
- Team e-mail address - you can have your own team tango e-mail address or we can forward it to your existing e-mail address
- Team online forum: a place for people to discuss and talk about paintball, we may make it so that you have to register and we will have private sections for team-only discussions. Were continuing to look into different types of forum software and I believe you’ll see some big changes here in the next month or two.
- Team photo website - http://photos.teamtangoalpha.com
- Team charter: we really only have three rules… play paintball*, pay your dues, and have fun, but we realized as we grow into a bigger and bigger team that we need to have a set of guidelines to keep things running smoothly. Most of this is on the pages of the website. I’ll send each team member, a PDF of it so they have a copy. But the short version is we just want everybody to work as a well coordinated team and have fun!
- Team banner - you’ve seen it! if not shall be at a paintball field near you soon!
- Team business cards -
- A fun, coordinated team - eager to play paintball a couple times a month in an organized, professionally run group of practical jokers, who are just out for a good time and some friendly competition
What you don’t get…
- you don’t get a team that takes itself so seriously they can’t have fun
- you don’t have to give up any family weekend days working on a paintball field to earn your spot on the team
- you don’t have to do any work to organize the team, unless you want to help make decisions
- you don’t have to worry about whether the team shows a profit for a business, because we are completely nonprofit, and our sole purpose is to play paintball
- you don’t have to worry about earning ranks or whether you qualify to be on an elite squad or not. We do have a command structure and we do have a rewards point system, but you don’t have to participate in either in order to make an A-team.
- We are not tied to any particular paintball field, so we can play other teams on a monthly basis and not get bored with the same scenarios
- We are not going to be some rigid, paramilitary wannabes. We are going to be guys that have fun on the field playing a game!
What do you HAVE to do to be involved?
- Play paintball. Practice and play events as an organized, coordinated team, probably one each per month if possible.
- Pay your dues once or twice a year.
- Don’t cheat and DO have fun. We want the reputation of “The Good Guys who make the game fun.”
- fill out an application
The team is actively seeking experienced players who can play and practice once a month, have the right attitude and are willing to work as a coordinated team while having some fun.
