Team Tango Heads to Viet Nam!
At our first real practice on Saturday, Temp Team Tango Alpha2, (Team Tango for short), started showing real promise. We started out slow, but communication, teamwork and post-mission debriefings improved our performance every game. To coordinate our attack on Viet Nam (at Command Decisions on April 26th), check out our brand new Team Discussion Group at Yahoo! Groups.
MVP goes to Heather “Hot Pants” Reed for rushing a hill bunker, then later capping the lead terrorist and his jihad, then finding their bomb and diffusing it. However, she did lose out to me in the wet tee-shirt contest, when it rained torrentially on us later!
I probably scored as Least Valuable Player on our team for shooting a couple of our own team (including Heather) when they snuck off to whack a couple bad guys. They moved off without letting us know over the radio, so I assumed they were Out. When a couple of players were spotted firing behind us (after the enemy had surrounded us) I efficiently used my new gun to take a couple of great long shots to remove them from the path of our hasty retreat. It would have been great, had they not been our team!
New SP-8’s were the buzz at the field. Jason T and I had both just cracked our new SmartParts mil-sim markers out of their boxes that morning and to the oohs and ahhs of the easily-impressed, we put them through their paces. We’ll do a full review later, but let’s just say they are incredibly fast, accurate and scary quiet. The bad news was that due to the fancy gun, my involuntary position as squad leader and my naturally big mouth, it seems I was designated as Target Of The Day. Every time I got bagged, some yahoo on the other team let out a war whoop. It was like there was a bounty on me. As a general rule, try to avoid getting designated as this as a tactic.
Taking The Path of Most Resistance
Team Tango will be fighting for the U.S. Marines at Viet Nam Patrol at Command Decisions. This group decision was based on the fact that a good number of the regular, permanent teams are playing as NVA. Maybe it’s our team persona to want to be the underdogs or we just want to go up against the best players, but we chose to fight on the U.S. side. Anybody could have taken the easy route and chosen to pick the side where you know some of the best teams are. It takes “real” warriors to chose the other side. Plus, it’s always more fun to hear them whine when a bunch of ”amateurs” whack them! Seriously though, the best way to improve our game is to play against better players. Besides, as a “non-team”, we have no reputation to protect.
For us, it’s all about having fun… and making the other guys cry!

GOing back to the “Target of the Day”. Paul, just make sure that you cover that bright hair of yours. That was the most noticeable part of your body out in woods.
I am thinking about camo colored hairspray! After the lumps to the temple I took this weekend, I am thinking about a camo-colored motorcycle helmet!
