I measure how successful a day of paintball is by how much fun you have. Today was very successful. Playing at what seems to becoming my home field, X-treme Tactical in Waxhaw, we had a blast!  First, the field was loaded.  At any given moment, we had 50+ players on the field, divided into 25+ player teams. A couple of refs had called in sick and Joseph and Jonathan, a couple of regular players, and myself, volunteered to help out with reffing duties (great job guys!) and that actually added to some of the fun.  Click Read More for pictures…

Players included the likes of Michael “Sandman” Sandy, his friend Keith, their sons and friends; various weekend warriors with handles such as “Cowboy” and “Mad Loki” (I wanted to go by “Mary-Ann”, but they said that was a little too butch for me!); and there were even a handful of Carolina Panthers!

One highlight was watching the Panther players sprint from one end of the field, shoot a guy, then run to the other end of the field at full speed, dressed in full ghillie suits! Another was having a bunker surrounded by 10 big guys and having little Heather rush the hilltop bunker and “Surrender them to death at gun point.” She got capped by a third player off to the side, but she showed us big, strong men how a REAL player busts a bunker… with enough fire power and chutzpah! Her partner in crime, Eric, taught us how to rush a player from the opposite end of the field, and I demonstrated how to get shot in the back as a referee!
