Team Tango goes Web 2.0

September 25th, 2009 | Category: One Shots

teamtangopaintball_siteTwitter-iconFacebookYou know you’re in touch with your feminine side when you can fess up to “Tweeting” over lattes. In an effort to get more in touch with what these crazy kids are doing these days (I am channeling everybody’s father right now), Team Tango is going Web 2.0 with pages on MySpace, Twitter and FacebookAdapt and overcome. MySpaceTango Alpha2 blogteamtangopaintball_forumThat’s my motto. (Didn’t use to have one, but I read that on Greenman’s Tweets.) After doing the initial set-up, I am turning the reins of our experimental adventure of terror into Social Networking over to some of our younger and newer members. Their jobs will be to make sure that the latest Tango/Paintball-oriented news gets updated. And to not get me arrested. Sign up today to be our Friend, Buddy, Follower or Twit-Bitch, as the case may be. You can be assured that, like everything else in the universe,  all this will change, evolve and eventually be screwed up bya  guy named Gates.

Wolf Creek AAR by Ironman

September 23rd, 2009 | Category: Events

Ferg finally makes his moveThis last weekend, a small but scrappy group took to Wolf Creek to fight Brothers In Arm: Hell’s Highway. The sides were lead by yours truly, Paul “Wingman” Metheney, of Team:Tango Alpha2 and Andrew “Kick Back In A Lawn Chair” Ferguson of Command Decisons. One of our shinier moments include me trying to figure out what to do with an atomic bomb too heavy to carry and with no bridges to get a truck across with (we had blown up all the bridges earlier). During the lunch break, I quietly announced a $10 bounty on a confirmed kill on Ferg, who had yet to leave his lawn chair and canopy for the field of battle (weenie!). Ferg retaliated by offering a bounty of a  free registration to Fulda Gap ($60) to the first person who shoots me. After I confronted him and confirmed this, I promptly shot myself in the foot and stuck my hand out for my free registration. Ferg wrestled my gun until he shot himself in the leg. Rat bastard still hasn’t coughed up my entry! There are photos of him in action so I guess he did manage to pick up a gun and be a real man! :)

The game was huge fun and congraulations to to the Allied forces who despite the “diplomatic scorekeeping” stomped us pretty heavily. It was a great game and Wolf Creek has really improved the field since I last played it.

The following is an After Action Report by Ironman of Rogue Cell, who really lead all the serious action in the field. Read more

It’s news to me!

September 22nd, 2009 | Category: One Shots

They got me Ma!I was just checking over the admin portion of this site and thought I would share couple of quick factoids. This week, TangoAlpha2.com, (this blog) celebrates over 150 articles written in the last 20 months (for you math majors that is averaging nearly 8 articles per month). We have over 200+ subscribers plus an unknown number of unregistered readers. All the major fields in the Carolinas subscribe and receive updates, as well as nearly all the major teams in the region. In the past few months we have been averaging one or two new subscribers every day. Not bad for an “afterschool” hobby. Read more

Team:Tango site gets a face lift!

September 09th, 2009 | Category: One Shots

teamtango siteAfter a year and half, the Team: Tango Alpha2 site finally gets a minor facelift. Changes include a new flash home page with shots of some of the team in action, an RSS feed from the blog on the lower right of the home page to keep viewers up to date, and a new banner on the secondary pages. Content has been tweaked and the team schedule updated as much as possible. One little used feature of the site is a catalog of tactical maps from most of the local fields. Any fields wishing to submit their maps can send them to paul@tangoalpha2.com .

The team itself took a partial break during the summer months due to the economy and the heat, but is fully back in action. (Trying to find a large, well organized, scheduled scenario is a bit more difficult these days.) With some practices and rec days coming up, the team is getting geared up to play at Adventure Beach on October 3rd and command the 117th for the Warsaw Pact at Fulda Gap at Command Decisions in November.

The team is recruiting for general team membeship and for the Warsaw Pact, playing as part of the 117th. Sign up today for Fulda Gap!

Here’s a scenario for you…

September 06th, 2009 | Category: Events

13Go out to a field and just play. No big themes. No back stories. No generals. Just play. And have fun. That’s what we did this weekend at Boss Paintball. Boss is throwing a “Labor Day Special” where you can buy a case  of paint and receive a free day of  play and get air for free. Due to the fact that it was a holiday, this special probably altered their numbers enough to have their average crowd (as opposed to a slow weekend for family getaways). The trick for me was that instead of planning a big scenario weekend and organizing people and managing schedules and worrying about how many will show up after your drive all day, we found the closest field and just Played Paintball. How refreshing! We had a great time! We met a bunch of new people… Read more

City Wars at Red Fox Sept 20th

September 04th, 2009 | Category: Events

CityWars2009The year is 2053 and the United States of America is in chaos.  Years of severe droughts have left the western half of the country barren and desolate.  Food and water are in short supply across the region and disputes over natural resources are all too commonplace.
